My Cryx have a new home

February 19th, 2010

Just two days ago, the new WARMACHINE branded figures case I ordered at TempleCon 2010 arrived.  I have to say that I’m very impressed with the quality of the product and the customer service I received from Romeo and the crew at BattleFoam.  The web is flooded with pictures of these things now if you know where to look, but I’ll add mine as well.  This first photo is of all the trays from the case with my Cryx collection safely housed in them:

You’ll note a couple of things here.  First, I have a whole tray spare for room to expand.  This isn’t the standard load-out so the spare tray is a medium sized tray where I plan to put my cavalry when I finally get them assembled.  What we have here are two small base trays, three medium base trays (perfect for bonejacks and bane knights), and a custom tray for the helljacks and bigger models.

Here’s a closer shot of the custom tray:

This tray was custom cut from tracing that Romeo made at TempleCon.  Here you see it holding Terminus, the Deathjack, a Seether, a Harrower, a Leviathan, and Slayer, and a Reaper as well as my TempleCon 2010 tumbler.  Now I just have to finish painting some of these models so they’re worthy of the case.

TempleCon 2010 Recovery

February 16th, 2010

Well, it’s been a week since TempleCon 2010 and I’m finally feeling coherent enough to post about it.  Like every year, it was an amazing three days of playing games, reconnecting with friends, and generally having a great time.  We had at least 173 players attend this year according to the count from Eternal War.  I may find a few ‘tournament only’ players when I go through those files and I know we had a few folks who showed up and played but didn’t bother registering for events.

As for myself, my Cryx army made it all the way to TempleCon and only came out of the case once.  That was to try out the new BattleFoam bag for size, not for an actual game.  Still, I feel my gaming batteries recharged after a long downward slump the last few months and I’m ready to get back onto the table.

Keep your eyes on this site for a full breakdown of stats from the tournaments and even a photo or three.  I’ll also be updating the calendar with lots of events in the next few days.

25 Days to go!

January 12th, 2010

Holy Crap!  It’s 2010 already and we’re down to less than a month until TempleCon.  Between building terrain for TempleCon and working my ass off at grad school, I’ve been pretty quiet on the gaming front, but all that’s going to change in a few weeks.

If you haven’t already, check out the schedule for TempleCon, order your Midnight Madness t-shirt, and get your registration squared away.  For those who can’t make it, we’ll have lots of fun on your behalf and send pictures.

After TempleCon, watch this space for big updates to the calendars as the local press gangers prepare the schedule of events for the year.

TempleCon 2010 games schedule finalized

November 19th, 2009

That’s right!  The schedule for Privateer Press games at TempleCon 2010 has been finalized and here it is in all its glory.  You thought you were ready, but this is going to blow the doors off:

PREPARE. TempleCon 2010 boasts the best schedule of Privateer Press events to date and is officially supported for the first time by Privateer Press. That’s right, the people that have brought you the best in gaming for the last few years have stepped up to the plate and provided a HUGE amount of prize support for your enjoyment.

Privateer Press staff will be in attendance, and they will all have armies at their disposal for some casual gaming:

Jason Soles (Lead Developer)

David “DC” Carl (Playtest Coordinator)

Simon Berman (Staff Writer)

Jack Coleman (Press Gang Quartermaster)

PREPARE. This year’s schedule marks a significant transformational step in the evolution of Privateer Press events at TempleCon.  We have also changed the face of Eternal War – no longer a qualifying event, this casual play experience now offers significant rewards for playing your favorite games against new friends from all over the globe.

That’s right, the more games you play, the more tickets you earn.  Redeem your tickets for awesome prizes or experiences such as a game against a member of the PP staff. Eternal War has also birthed a monstrous twin in the form of All You Can Eat for the casual Monsterpocalypse player.

Just like last year there are a series of qualifying events that will send the best players to face off against each other in the Championship events on Sunday.  Even if you don’t qualify for the Championships be sure to stick around since the leftover prizes from Eternal War and All You Can Eat will be raffled off at the end of the day.

PREPARE. With this knowledge in hand, take some time to review the details below.

Pre-register at www.templecon.org to earn two (2) free Eternal War tickets, two (2) free All You Can Eat tickets and a souvenir button for these events!

Then go to www.cafepress.com/NEPRIVATEERS and buy your TempleCon 2010 Midnight Madness T-shirt featuring never before seen artwork.  Wear your T-shirt to TempleCon 2010 and get two (2) more free EW and AYCE tickets!

That’s right, you can earn a Tier 1 prize of your choice, or be well on your way to a bigger prize, just by pre-registering and buying an awesome souvenir T-shirt featuring never before seen PP artwork.

Some of the prizes available in Eternal War and All You Can Eat will include: Faction Dog Tags, Privateer Logo and Faction Patches, Mk II T-shirts, Signed Hardcopy of Prime MK2, Signed Chris Walton Prints “field of hate” and “crack the whip” from the Gavyn Kyle files, Signed Matt Wilson Prints, Shadow Forms, Glass Forms, Monpoc T-Shirts, “Extreme” series models, Signed Grind boardgame, Mega Forms and much, much more!!!

ENJOY. TempleCon is a unique gaming experience that you cannot afford to miss.  Whether this is your first year or your fifth we look forward to seeing you there and building friendships that we celebrate all year round.  See you at TempleCon 2010!

November 11th, 2009

Hello again,

Thanks to our tireless photographer, we’ve got some great pictures of this year’s Breast Cancer Brawl at the Hobby Bunker.  I’m still working out the bugs of some different gallery application for future sets of photos, but here’s the first few for your viewing pleasure:

TempleCon 2010 is Coming!

November 11th, 2009

As of this writing, TempleCon 2010 is only 85 short days away.  That’s less than three months people!  The local Press Gangers have been working like crazy to build terrain and plan events for this great convention and we’ll be pulling back the curtain on a lot of this in the coming weeks.  But, first and foremost, we want to encourage everyone who hasn’t yet to get on over to the TempleCon web site and pre-register for the convention.  There’s no separate event registrations, just the convention overall.  This is in your best interests and ours because the better count we have of pre-registered gamers, the better we’ll be able to plan events and the better deals the convention organizers will be able to cut with the hotel for things like catering food and such.

Gaming for Giving

October 27th, 2009

What a great way to kick things off with the new site!  Our first real news post is about a charitable event.  Check out the calendar for more details on Gaming For Giving on November 7th in Connecticut.  This tournament benefits Toys For Tots so come on down to game and bring a new unwrapped toy or three for your entry fee and just generally for a good cause.  The guys are great hosts and it will be a fun time.

Hello world!

October 25th, 2009

OK, please be patient as we go through some major growing pains to re-launch the site.  The calendar’s back already and the links and store lists will return shortly as well.
